How Long Does it Take to Create an Event App?

An event mobile app is a powerful tool that enhances every aspect of the event for your team, vendors, and attendees. A quality one can’t be created in a week or two, and here’s why:

It Takes Teamwork
We’ve been doing this since 2009, and we have the process down to a science. Even then, there are still things only you can provide, like specific direction, design assets, and feedback. We let you know upfront everything we need from you and when we’ll need it, so you can meet goals on time and prevent any unnecessary delays.

It’s an Ongoing Process
From choosing add-on features to ensuring everything looks and functions exactly as you envisioned, the process involves consistent communication between your team and ours. Things will go faster and smoother if you designate someone on your team as the point person to work with us. It doesn’t need to be their only job, but it should be a priority.

It’s an Investment
You plan year-round for your event. A mobile app is integral to your event’s success and it should be part of that planning. We recommend getting your app in the Apple and Google Play stores 4 to 6 weeks prior to your event’s start date, so you have time to promote it and maximize the number of app users at your event.

Faster Isn’t Always Better
Your event mobile app can be strategically developed to meet all your needs, or it can be turned around quickly. But it can’t be both. We suggest planning for about 90 days before your app is available for download.

Additionally, your app should be available for at least 30 days prior to your event. Why so early? Attendees will use the app to customize their own event experience, and many prefer to start planning weeks before the gates open. Plus, earlier availability gives you more time to maximize downloads and line up sponsorships that help pay for your app.

With all this in mind, it’s no surprise our most successful clients start working on their app at least 4 to 6 months in advance. However, we know your start date might be approaching sooner than you’d like. There are some situations in which we can expedite our normal timelines. And even if there’s not enough time to have an app ready for this event, it’s never too early to start planning for your next one.
